Spiked Mini Milkshakes!

Are you getting ready for the July 4th weekend and planning an outdoor bbq with all the fixin's?  Well, throw some burgers, hot dogs, chicken, ribs and links on the grill and don't forget to have a few libations on hand to wash everything down. 

Chilled imported and domestic beers and wines go great with grilled meats, but add something creamy and dreamy to go along great with the grilled burgers. Remember it's the holidays so don't be afraid to splurge a little and...don't skimp on the decadence! 

Remember, by having just a small "nibble" you will still feel satisfied without having all the unwanted calories of a regular sized milkshake.  Celebrate your independance with some of these delicious and flavorful recipes: 
These mini milkshakes are just the perfect "shot" of decadence for a 4th of July bash. 


Mango-Papaya Spiked Milkshake
1 cup whole milk
3 Tbs. condensed milk 
3 tsp honey (to taste)
1/2  cup fresh ripe mango cubed or pureed
1/2 cup fresh ripe papaya cubed or pureed
1/2 cup crushed ice
Malibu Coconut Rum (floater)

Place the mango, papaya, condensed milk, milk and honey into a blender.  Process until thick and frothy.  Add the crushed ice and process until smooth and the shake is creamy.  Pour into mini shot glasses and float a splash of Malibu Coconut rum on the top of each mini milkshake and serve.  The condensed milk is a very Cuban addition in making this tropical milkshake a very traditional exotic treat!


Tahitian Vanilla-Coffee Bean Spiked Milkshake
1 cup whole milk
2 scoops Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream
3 Tbs. Kahlua (coffee flavored liquer)
2 tsp. vanilla agave nectar (to taste)
1/2 cup crushed ice
Captain Morgan Spiced Rum (floater)

Place the milk, ice cream, agave and kahlua into the blender and process until thick and frothy.  Add the crushed ice and process until smopth and the shake is creamy.  Pour into mini shot glasses and float a splash of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum on the top of each mini milkshake and serve.  Top with shaved chocolate, cocoa beans and whipped cream.


Key Lime-Kiwi Pie Spiked Milkshake
1 cup whole milk
3 Tbs. condensed milk
3 Tbs. honey (to taste)
1/4 cup Key Lime Juice
1/2 cup fresh, ripened kiwi small cubed
1/2 cup crushed ice
Stolichnaya Vanilla Vodka (floater)

Place the milk, condensed milk, honey, key lime and kiwi into the blender.  Process until thick and frothy.  Add the crushed ice and process until the shake is thick and creamy.  Pour into mini shot glasses and float a splash of Stolichnaya Vanilla Vodka on the top of each mini milkshake and serve.  Top with crumbled graham crackers, orange zest and whipped cream.
